I believe students learn best when working on authentic research problems. My courses emphasize hands-on experience with real datasets, encouraging students to develop practical skills directly applicable to research and industry careers in geosciences.
Modern geoscience increasingly relies on computational tools. I integrate programming (Python), data analysis, and visualization throughout my teaching, ensuring students graduate with strong technical capabilities alongside domain knowledge.
I promote collaborative learning, peer instruction, and open-source tools. Students work in teams, share code via GitHub, and learn reproducible research practices that prepare them for modern scientific workflows.
Teaching and research are deeply connected. I bring current research challenges into the classroom, and student projects often contribute to ongoing research, creating meaningful learning experiences and advancing scientific knowledge simultaneously.
